Ragi Recipe For Infants

Boil milk on low flame. Since the quantity is small, we can go for cow's/buffaloes milk.
Mix ragi with little milk without lumps.
After the milk comes to boil, mix the raagi mixed milk in the milk and bring it to the consistency required.
Add sugar/jaggery/sugar chips (your choice).
Put some ghee.
Turn off the stove.

Feed it warm.

It can be started early for the infants as early as 6 months after introducing solids, don't start with this only introduce it when the kid is used to eating semisolid foods.

Ragi and Whole milk is a bit too heavy on the baby's tummy so use it on your discretion and let the baby guide you.

  1. The doctors advise against using whole milk until the baby's first year birthday. So, which milk can we use - since we cannot heat breastmilk?

    1. Doctors suggest to give toned milk for babies instead of whole milk until first year.

  2. it is going to be very little 3or 4 tablespoons, so if the kid is not showing any allergy signs to the milk, you can go ahead and give it.. otherwise we can do it just with water in stead of milk.

  5. Vany.. roasted ragi does not get spoiled soon it seems, so you can go for either of it.
