Pour in any ideas for rice recipes for midday meal to the kiddo.
It is almost always rasam (tomato, water, onion, carrot, coriander, etc.) along with dal rice with some green veggie, peas, potatoes, french beans etc.
Anything exciting for the 1 yr. old palate?? On the lookout.. if you happen to know, please do drop in some ideas...
Few ideas...
ReplyDelete1)Mac and cheese...Some kids go ga ga over it (like my tyke)! So definitely worth a try. Try mixing some extra cheese to make it yummier.
2)Along with rasam, I alternate between dals, sambhar, kattus and kootus.
3)Mashed potato. A mean by itself! My DH feels I need to give my son a break with rice.
4)Idlis, dosas, soft rotis and puris. 1 yr old can easily chew up these and are great finger foods too.
Tarla Dalal has come out with a recipe book just for toddlers! My friend has tried quite a few and she says itz been a big hit with her baby!

Sree,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried feeding ur LO, Pongal? not the AP way but the TN way. In TN the pongal is much mushier and kids love it!
Hi Sree,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried noodles, without any spice, just noodles, green peas, sprouts, and boiled corn with some salt. Boil the noodles first and drain away the way, boil it again and put the noodles in cold water. In a separate vessel boil green peas, corn, or sprouts, with some salt and add the cooked noodles. Kids enjoy eating these. My daughter loves noodles (she is 2 now but started to eat these when she was one).
Cheers,
Sandhya
